14 April 2023. We are very pleased to announce that Amnesty International UK (AIUK) and Work Better Innovations will host a special Human Rights Eid in Portsmouth on 29 April at Aspex Portsmouth.

Portsmouth’s Human Rights Eid will conclude Amnesty’s series of Human Rights Iftars around the country during Ramadan, in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham and Leeds.

WBI’s Executive Director Dr Bonny Ling will be joined by AIUK’s Country Coordinator for China and Taiwan, Nabila Hanson, and Shipa Ahmed Khan, the Health Inequalities Lead for Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS, focusing on three human rights themes:

  • Situation of Uyghur and Turkic Muslim minorities in China;
  • Human Right to Health and reducing health inequalities; and
  • Corporate responsibility to respect human rights and an ethical supply chain.

The event will provide the opportunity to take part in an engaging program centred around human rights, accompanied by a complimentary Eid dinner in the unique space of Aspex Portsmouth.

This event will provide ample opportunity for local residents and students to connect with a wider network of human rights advocates at AIUK. Attendees will be offered the chance to participate in Amnesty International advocacy letter writing.

Everyone is welcome! Please make sure to register at the link here, as spaces are limited.
