28 June 2024. As part of WBI’s commitment to support migrant employment, we hosted a LinkedIn workshop to provide guidance to optimise jobseekers’ LinkedIn profiles, including facilitating a session for professional profile photos. This project was made possible by Portsmouth City Council’s Community Inclusion Grant 2024.
The workshop was delivered by a QA Engineer, Emre Bektas, a long term supporter of Work Better Innovations. Emre inspired the participants by sharing his personal experience of finding his dream job through LinkedIn.
After discussing the wonderful benefits of using LinkedIn, the migrant participants were encouraged to log into their LinkedIn accounts and take a few steps to improve their profiles and connect with each other to confidently start their networking with professionals.
Feeling empowered, the hopeful jobseekers followed Emre’s clear instructions and useful hints to look for meaningful roles to improve their career prospects. The room buzzed with excitement, and the self-assurance twinkled in their eyes while trying out job search strategies on LinkedIn.
There was a photo session arranged after the lunch and networking break. As usual the brilliant photographer Alec Chapman, founder of POOW Media made the photoshoot fun for our migrant participants. Even those who find the camera intimidating felt comfortable with Alec’s professional style and guidance.
“I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in the LinkedIn workshop. The tutor was well experienced explaining the benefits of having a LinkedIn account and he took us through the process of creating and customising our profile.” Hussain Jadadi
The migrant job seekers left feeling their best. We wish them all the very best in their subsequent steps in the professional networking world and hunt for their dream job.
