We undertake specialist research and project with clients to build ethical supply chains worldwide. We are guided in our work by our values of building careful understanding, thoughtful engagement and trust with our collaborators.

Work Better Innovations works with clients in these following areas; please get in touch if we can help you with your work! We operate as a social enterprise, meaning that our profits go into our community service. We operate as a community interest (not-for-profit) company.

Human Rights Training & Education

WBI have built a strong reputation in providing practical and industry-focused training on human rights and labour standards. In 2022, a global brand tasked WBI to deliver a pilot project on forced labour education that was uniquely tailored to SMEs. You can read more about the project here; and view online the Guidebook on Forced Labour Indicators we produced, here.

Specialist Projects & Advisories

Work Better Innovations has strong subject matter expertise in international law and standards. We have done internal reports for clients on forced labour in Southeast Asia, labour exploitation in the UK maritime sector, and closed-door briefings on environmental, social and governance (ESG) developments for financial sector clients interested in East Asia.

International Engagements

Global challenges such as climate change and modern slavery need economic growth that does not exploit the environment and workers. These present a challenge for everyone. WBI is active in shaping and disseminating global academic discourse on migration, decent work and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We are frequently invited to take part in global discussions on these topics and find innovative solutions.

Inclusivity & Multistakeholder Approach

We bring together a diverse set of stakeholders to seed change for a more responsible economy. They include global brands, civil society organisations, think tanks, social responsibility and sustainability consultancies, colleges, universities, local authorities and volunteers.

Our diverse networks create valuable spaces of connection for different stakeholders to work together and find innovative solutions. We contribute to bridging the knowledge gaps between various sectors by:

  • Finding spaces to connect scholars with community workers
  • Embedding under-represented networks into activity programming
  • Bringing corporate actors into direct dialogue with community members

We champion diversity in the workplace, through equality and inclusion in employment. This is also the central prong of our community service work on migrant integration.

It also speaks very much to our core – we are a minority and women-led organisation, headed by directors with lived experiences of migration. We believe in doing good work, back by accurate understanding and the solidarity of teams!
