Community Researcher

Fatma Tuylu is community researcher and a qualified SDET/QA Engineer with a professional background in both technology and hospitality management. A migrant to the Portsmouth area, she brings her interdisciplinary approach to community engagement and volunteering in projects to reduce health inequalities and increase local environmental action.

Fatma started her career as an IT Tutor at Yildiz Technical University in Turkey, from 2001 to 2004. There, she demonstrated her longstanding commitment to education and technology by collaborating with faculty to update curriculum and learning materials to industry standards. Her commitment to ongoing professional development is evident in her recent certifications from IBM in Agile Development, CI/CD, and ISTQB® software testing qualifications. Her last project was about testing an online banking application.

Fatma has professional experiences in hospitality. She worked as a restaurant manager in Istanbul, where she led menu optimization, analysed pricing strategy, produced financial reports and maintained high health and safety standards. In Portsmouth, Fatma is an active member of the migrant community by helping other newly-arrived families to integrate into local life and giving back through community engagement to her new home in the UK.
